Welcome
About Us
The Church at Powai is committed to a vital evangelical Christian faith rooted in the Wesleyan-Arminian theological tradition, which stresses the free grace of God in two ways: First, the grace of God is free in all – dependent neither on merit nor works. Second, the grace of God is free for all – all may be saved. Christ died for the whole world. People are lost, then, not because they cannot be saved, but because they will not be saved.
Statement of Faith
We follow the Wesleyan-Arminian theological doctrines,
We believe in one God; the Creator, Sustainer of the universe, eternally existence in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit revealing himself to us in his Word. We believe in Scripture, humankind, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, justification, entire sanctification, and assurance of believers, Christians in society, The Church, and The return of Christ.
Values & Mission
Digging deeper, reaching further
We will be a church that grows both spiritually and numerically, seeks authentic, relevant worship and is completely submitted to the Will of God as found in the Holy Scriptures and is involved in community initiatives that showcase Jesus and allow the working of the Holy Spirit in situations that lead to positive community transformation. Our core values include integrity, excellence, inclusivity, resoluteness, innovation and compassion.
History of CAP
The story of our 22 years
The Church at Powai (CAP) was founded in April 1997 by Rev. Dr. Cecil Clements and his wife Sheila Clements. After completing their studies (He, in Theology and she in Counselling—both from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky, US) they returned to India in October 1996 and started the church in their home in Powai. Since then the church has moved through six locations as the Lord has increased its numbers and is currently located within an industrial complex in Vikhroli west.
