Jisu Prem English School
The Vision
Jisu Prem English School (JPES) is an undertaking of the Church at Powai charitable trust, registered under the Mumbai Public Trusts Act (1950). No. E18098 Mumbai seeks: To bring about holistic (spiritual, mental, physical, socio-economic) development of children by equipping and empowering them to know and fulfill God’s purposes for their lives and thus transforming the community.
At JPES, the path for helping children live an abundant life is to enable them to grow: Spiritually (knowing God) * Socially (loving one another) * Mentally (using God given skills, potential and abilities) * Physically and Emotionally (staying healthy) * Economically (being good stewards of God’s Resources).
Empowering them to rise above their circumstances with sights set high; to mature into men and woman who would serve their family, society and the nation in different God-given responsibilities.
The Mission
To accomplish this vision, Jisu Prem English School has chalked up a four-pronged mission statement:
- To set up English medium schools with a curriculum designed to nurture in children a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, imparted in a manner that is relevant to their present and future lives. The curricular content, with a Christian perspective integrated into it, proposes to develop in children a lifestyle that imbibes attitudes of caring and sharing along with other values like love, faith and integrity from an early age.
- To set up similar schools in other parts of India through partnerships.
- To equip families and communities for the children’s holistic development by being sensitive to their social concerns, promoting economic development, apprising them of their rights as individuals and the benefits available from different Government and private sector organisations and also liaising with the authorities on their behalf.
- To create a health department comprising a doctor, health worker, physical education teacher/sports coach and a psychologist, which would be responsible for the overall physical welfare of the children and the environment in which they live, focused on areas such as sports development; health and hygiene; nutrition and diet; emotional and physiological needs.
