Traveling back to Mumbai I saw a headline that made me sick to the stomach: “Three year old girl raped and beheaded.” How evil and despicable is the prevailing perversity, isn’t it? True the Bible has warned us of these kinds of days: Consider Proverbs 2:14 “Who delight in doing evil and rejoice in the perversity of evil.” Isaiah 59:7 “Their feet run to evil, And they hasten to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, devastation and destruction are in their highways,” and Ephesians 4:19 “and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.” However, the prayer our Lord taught His disciples entreats our Father to let “His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” In the rule of God’s Kingdom things like this won’t happen, isn’t it? No, they cannot!!
So, could it be we’re not praying enough for God’s rule? And if so, should we do something about it? Should we pray more? Pray that evil will lose its power over men and women made in His image? Pray that God’s rule of love and harmony and goodwill to all men will prevail? My heart was broken on seeing this news item as I’m sure yours is too, in reading this. Let’s turn that brokenness, into earnest, travailing prayer to the King of Heaven and pray for His love and goodness to prevail over these evil, horrific happenings.
